Snow-Ice Prevention with Heating Cables

Snow-Ice Prevention with Heating Cables

Roof Heating, Gutter Heating

Since heavy snowfall and freezing cause freezing in the gutters, it does not allow the melting snow or rainwater to fall from the gutters. Due to this problem, problems such as explosion on the outer wall or water intake from the roof occur. To prevent these, a gutter heating system should be used.

The heating cable is also known as resistance cable. As the name suggests, it is used to generate heat. Generally, the only purpose of the cable is not to heat the environment it is in. It can be used for heating, keeping existing heat or preventing snow ice, depending on the application type. The heater cable also has an insulation depending on where it is used. Heating cables such as Teflon, PFA, which are supplied ready for the termination and termination connection as factory, and after the termination and termination connections are made by the authorized technical team, the connected cables and the desired lengths are adjusted. called resistance heating cables. Cables made after termination and termination connections are not ready and are classified as self-regulating, self-limiting, self-regulating heating cables. Every cable, electrical cable, signal cable generates heat over time, but usually they do not generate enough heat to heat a place in the environment or to melt snow ice. Heating cables, on the other hand, emit heat because their main purpose is to generate heat. This temperature is adjusted with thermostats and sensors to be used more efficiently in the environment. Humidity and temperature sensors are used so that the heating cables give heat only when necessary. These sensors ensure that the heating cables are only energized in snow and icing conditions. Thus, heating cables do not work continuously, which is important for more efficient use of energy. Considering any leakage of heater cables, it is recommended to use with fuse and residual current relay. Form Engineering heating cables are extremely durable and long lasting. In general, if the installation is done correctly and the necessary insulation and electrical tests are carried out after the installation, these warranty periods extend up to 20 years. If it does not overlap, the heating cable must be replaced with a new one. Two Types of Heating Cables are Used in Roof-Gutter Heating Applications.

  • Self-regulating Heating Cable
  • Series Resistance Heating Cable

Self-Regulating Heating Cables

Self-regulating, self-limiting heating cables made by applying advanced carbon and polymer technology. Heat is generated as electrical current passes through the conductive polymer core between cable conductors. As the ambient temperature decreases, the number of electrical paths through the core increases and more heat is produced. Conversely, the higher the temperature, the less electrical paths and less heat is generated due to the structure of the core. Thanks to this core structure, the cable does not overheat, provides electrical advantage and prevents burning.

Series Resistance Heating Cable

In Series Resistive Cables, in the energy part, the heat part and the part close to each other are the same and it is chrome-nickel wire. They can be produced in these cables. The snails of these cables can be cut to certain small widths at the small end of the cable type.

High pass values over them have a minimum acceptability to be accepted. There is a serial lead cable (serial resistance cable) as single conductor and double conductor. It will be made from one end of the single-conductor cables, passing through the paths from the phase. In double-conductor serial cables, it gives information about single-end and phase connection trainings.
